About Dr. Wafelbakker

Bas Wafelbakker, DMD, feels fortunate to be an orthodontist because he knows that a great smile boosts each person’s self-esteem. At his practice, Wafelbakker Anderson Orthodontics -- serving the families of Walnut Creek, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, and Hollister, California -- he often sees children who are a little shy and embarrassed about their smile. Eighteen months later, orthodontic treatment has helped them laugh, smile, make direct eye contact, and stand proud.

Dr. Wafelbakker is privileged to be a part of that experience with children, but he also works with adults who need their teeth straightened, a misaligned bite corrected, or who suffer from jaw pain and migraines. His practice is a friendly place where they strive to have fun and treat every patient like family.

Dr. Wafelbakker received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Amsterdam Dental School, then went on to receive his Orthodontic Certificate from Temple University. He spends a great deal of time each year in continuing education, staying up to date with the rapidly evolving technology and treatments in orthodontics. He also completes continuing education in other dental disciplines, so he’s able to communicate better with his patients’ dentists.

Dr. Wafelbakker holds active membership in the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Santa Clara County Dental Society, and the California Dental Association.

Since 2008, Dr. Wafelbakker has been actively studying with the dean of the Kanagawa Dental College in Japan, learning a new technique, multiloop edgewise archwire, that can eliminate jaw surgery for many patients with bite problems.

Dr. Wafelbakker was born in Holland but has called Morgan Hill home for more than three decades. He lives there with his wife, three children, and two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, running, CrossFit, and traveling with his wife.
